Bachelor Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,3, University of Flensburg (Internationales Institut für Management und ökonomische Bildung), language: English, abstract: In accordance with today's fierce competition between firms in being innovative, firms face new challenges in transforming knowledge into innovations to gain competitive advantage. In light of the trend towards open innovation, executives and entrepreneurs must reconsider their firms' inbound innovation strategies to not to lose competitiveness. Additionally, they must align their business models accordingly to enable and to support open innovation activities. However, while the trend towards open innovation is evident, theoretical approaches on how different business models demand different open innovation strategies still provoke a lot of controversy in current business and academic literature. Based on latest research this thesis will introduce a novel type of contingency framework that matches inbound open innovation strategies with equivalent open business model designs. A theoretical analysis and an empirical application of a case study of Novo Nordisk will provide an answer to how inbound open innovation strategies and business models can be aligned accordingly with the help of a contingency framework.

Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Linguistics, grade: 1,3, University of Flensburg (Englisches Seminar), course: Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis, language: English, abstract: Even though the computer plays a significant role in modern communication, it could not replace the telephone as an communication tool, whose history goes back to the 19th century. In contrast to face-to-face interaction participants do not have the opportunity to involve gesture, facial expressions or eye contact in telephone conversations and therefore have lesser possibilities to manage turntaking within these conversations. In this paper I will have a closer look at how turntaking in English telephone conversations works. First I will explain the turntaking model, which was developed by Sacks, Schegloff and Jefferson, and analyze examples from recorded telephone conversations. After concentrating on Transition Relevance Places, I will also analyze overlaps, asking for clarification and back-channel-responses. Following this, I will have a look at adjacency pais in telephone conversation. Finally, I will conclude by summarizing my findings. The data which will be analyzed in this paper, was derived from two telephone conversations, which were recorded and afterwards partly transcribed. In each case one of the participants was a native speaker of English and the other a native speaker of German. The examples found in this paper are taken from this data. However, in most cases only one or two examples are taken from the transcript, as an analysis of more examples would exceed the scope of this paper.

Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Topic: European Union, grade: A, University of Flensburg, language: English, abstract: European Union consists of a unique integration model not only due to the long term and ongoing process but also because of the Institutions and regulations under 27 Member States, which attempt to comprise and mostly to harmonize the national laws. Especially after Maastricht Treaty, when the supranational building of the EU was introduced plenty of reforms had introduced in order to increase from the one hand the effectiveness of the complicated and bureaucratic body of EU and from the other hand to control the way that European Union and the individual Member States function in a more effective and productive way. After the adoption of a single currency- the Euro- for sixteen of the Members of the EU in parallel of the important enlargement the structural body of the EU became even more complicated that needed the consistent control whether structural reforms had to be introduced in order the effective function of the EU was to be assured. Under these circumstances, the financial sector is of the greatest importance within the EU as it is -so far- the basement of the integration model and consists of the guardian of deepening integration within the EU. Therefore, the supervision and the reforms in financial services within EU has increased dramatically from 1993, after the Maastricht Treaty and the introduction of supranationality, through 2004-with the great Eastern enlargement and finally until now that the current financial crisis consisted a shock for EU, that attempted to implement new measures and to establish institutional changes in order to supervise the financial sector effectively in a long term.
